Here’s our predictions for UFC on Versus 2: Jones vs Matyushenko:

Jones vs Matyushenko:

Jon Jones: Jon Jones may be one of the few fighters you could call the future of the light heavyweight division. At just 23, he has won 4 of 5 UFC bouts, with his last fight ending in a 1st round KO of a very tought Brandon Vera. His strenghts are his athletiticis, unothrodox style and well roundedness. He has also displayed great strength and can wrestle with anybody

Vladimir Matyushenko: At 24-4, experience definitely is on the 39 year old veteran’s side. He holds notable wins over Yushin Okami and Pedro Rizzo, and is 2-0 since his return to the UFC. The majority of his opponents, however, have not been what I’d consider top-tier opponents in today’s MMA game. He is a powerful striker with solid boxing.

Prediction: Jones will out-wrestle and out-strike the veteran Matyushenko, using his strength and speed to win via unanimous decision.

Munoz vs Okami:

Mark Munoz: The 32 year old Filipino-American brings some serious wrestling skills to the octagon, although3 of his 5 wins have been the result of his devastating punching power. Just ask Kendall Grove, who was dispatched in this fashion by Munoz in the second round at UFC 112.

Yushin Okami: A veteran of the sport, Yushin Okami is himself a very solid wrestler and is very large for a middleweight. He has several wins in the octagon, but was set back by Chael Sonnen. Yushin has an effective but sometimes boring to watch style, but it has been pretty effective.

Prediction: This is a close one. Munoz is stronger and has more punching power, but lacks the MMA experience of Okami. I see a split decision win with Munoz’s hand raised at the end of the match.
